Here’s a story that might give you a new perspective:
A group of scientists, having unlocked the mysteries of cloning, decided they no longer needed God. They had the power to create life from the very dust of the earth, just as God had done. Confident in their abilities, they called a meeting with God to break the news: “We don’t need you anymore. We’ve mastered the art of creating life.”
God listened and then said, “Alright, show me what you can do.”
The scientists reached down to grab some dirt, ready to demonstrate their skills. But God stopped them and said, “Hold on, get your own dirt.”
This story serves as a great reminder that everything we have—our lives, our successes, even our talents—are gifts. We often take ownership of things, including our very existence, forgetting how extraordinary this gift of life truly is.
As sales professionals, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind, measuring success by targets, numbers, and accolades. But today, take a moment to reflect on the abundance that life offers beyond your career. Your clients, colleagues, family, and friends are not just parts of your life; they are precious gifts that enrich your journey.
In every deal you close or challenge you overcome, remember to appreciate the present moment. Life itself is a remarkable gift, and it’s not something we can manufacture or own. It’s sourced from something greater than our selves.
So today, walk through your day with a sense of gratitude. Appreciate the fact that you get to experience this life, build meaningful connections, and contribute to the world in your unique way.
